BACKGROUND & HISTORY
Continental Production Tools (Pty) Ltd was established in 1964 in Wynberg, Johannesburg by Mr G.Keichel.
In 2000 C.Rob. Hammerstein Group established a joint venture with Continental Production Tool to form CRH-Continental in South Africa.
CRH-Continental purchased Allmay Tooling in 2007 to increase its presence close to their Customers in the automotive hub of Port Elizabeth. In 2010 all plants were consolidated into one entity named CRH-Africa Automotive (Pty) Ltd.
In Feb 2011 Johnson Controls announced that it had completed the acquisition of the global C. Rob. Hammerstein Group, a leading global supplier of high-quality metal seat structures, components and mechanisms based in Solingen, Germany. Thereafter three CRH-Africa Automotive plants in South Africa were acquired by Johnson Controls and Pasdec Automotive Technologies with a shareholding of 70% / 30% respectively between the new owners.
CRH-Africa Korsten plant relocated in 2011 to refurbished facilities.
In April of 2016 CRH-Africa acquired an additional plant and named it Adient Pasdec to support our strategic objective of setting up a world class metals and mechanisms facility for seat systems to support the local OEM’s.
AN OVERVIEW OF CRH-AFRICA
CRH-Africa has long been a leading supplier known for our complete product development process, materials engineering, tooling / manufacturing expertise and capability to produce value added pressed metal
components and assemblies.
CRH-Africa has three modern manufacturing plants located in South Africa. All three are located in the
automotive hub of Port Elizabeth (two in Korsten and then Deal Party). With a staff complement of 776
personnel, CRH-Africa manufactures over 40 million pressed, machined and fine blanked components per
Additionally Adient-Pasdec assembles over 800,000 seat frame assemblies for tier 1 Seat Assemblers as well as
vehicle OEM’s in South Africa, the likes of BMW, Nissan, Ford and VWSA.
CRH-Africa is ideally structured, with a strong TEAM and PROJECT MANAGEMENT focus, which supports various industry sectors in South Africa. A large portion of pressings are manufactured and sold to internal tier 1 Catalytical Converter assemblers like, Eberspächer, Faurecia, Tenneco and Benteler who export globally from South Africa. CRH-Africa export directly to South America, USA, Russia, Korea and the EU.
